Workshop for the care of the elderly Worb

Three workshops, three sustainability principles and a total of 67 participants, a large majority of whom have resolved to implement the measures developed in their day-to-day work.

Motivation as a basis

In February, we visited AB Worb three times and had the opportunity to work with a motivated workforce eager to learn. AB Worb gathered employees from all work areas to jointly address the topic of sustainability in the company. By involving employees in finding and implementing ideas and measures, understanding is fostered and a shared culture of responsibility for this important issue is created at all levels. For AB Worb it is clear that committed, qualified and motivated employees form the basis for their activities. To this end, they promote the further development of employees and strengthen participatory thinking about change.

Our goal was to sensitize employees to sustainability and to trigger conversations and discussions about it. This was more than successful and it became apparent that the different points of view of the employees led to personal reflection, which most of them found personally beneficial. - Frank Heepen (Home Manager)

Implementation in everyday work

The survey of workshop participants revealed that more than two-thirds of them found the workshop personally enriching. Overall, 72 percent said they had developed their own measures in the workshop to make their working environment more sustainable. Again, 78 percent of the participants said that they also enjoyed the workshop. Finally - and this is the main objective of the workshops - 85 percent of the participants stated that they wanted to implement the jointly developed measures in their day-to-day work.

The sustainability workshop

Awareness and introduction

The participants playfully deal with the topics of sustainable development. First, the participants independently acquired knowledge on the topics of energy and mobility, climate change, raw materials, water and nutrition. They then exchanged information with each other in small groups. Various quizzes on the respective topics provide an introduction to a lively discussion and debate.

Measures for everyday work

What are the fields of action? What can each individual person achieve? In groups, participants apply what they have just learned and develop ideas for implementation in their own working environment. The ideas are collected and presented in the plenum. Finally, a periodization takes place to determine which measures should be implemented. From this, a sustainability code is drawn up and the various projects are initiated in the company.
