In our latest blog post, we take a look back at our participation in the "Sustainable Public Procurement 2024 Conference".
On March 12, 2024, a groundbreaking conference was held at the Kongresshaus Biel/Bienne dedicated to the implementation of the Climate Protection Act in public procurement. This event, supported by the FOEN 's specialist unit for green public procurement and in collaboration with leading organizations, made it clear that Sustainability is no longer an option in public procurement, but a necessity.
Challenges and opportunities
A central theme of the"Conference on Sustainable Public Procurement 2024" was the identification and overcoming of barriers that prevent procurement officers from integrating sustainability criteria. Many procurement officers feel unsure about sustainable procurement and are afraid of making mistakes and receiving criticism.
The role of education
A key aspect of overcoming these challenges is education. Our Future Perfect courses aim to train vocational learners in various areas of sustainability. By raising awareness and imparting a deep understanding of sustainability criteria and their implementation, long-term, positive change can be achieved.
A call to action
The conference in Biel was much more than a technical meeting; it was a call to action. It is time for change. Let's overcome the fear of the unknown together and work towards a sustainable future in which sustainability is not just a goal, but a living reality.
The Future Perfect courses for vocational schools and upper secondary schools focus on sustainability topics such as the circular economy, climate change and energy. They offer digital teaching materials on Moodle with multimedia content, course plans and additional materials. The aim is to teach sustainability skills and integrate sustainability knowledge into work and everyday life. The courses also promote digital and key skills such as communication and critical thinking.
