Last week, the Swiss Green Economy Symposium took place, at which various speakers emphasized the importance of involving employees in the transition to a circular economy.
As part of the Innovation Forum on "Circular Economy and Plastics: Innovative Collaboration for Practical Solutions", Almut Sanchen (EnAW Consultant and Project Manager Resource Efficiency, Energy Agency for Industry) explained how resource efficiency in companies can be achieved through better internal and external organization as well as collaboration.
Tina Kempf (Head of Sustainability Management), in turn, explained how Lyreco Switzerland is committed to more circular economy and climate protection along the entire supply chain, emphasizing the importance of good communication with and involvement of employees and customers.
The subsequent panel discussion explored how the implementation of the circular economy can be accelerated together. Micaël Müller (Head of CoE for Packaging, M-Industry) said that across the different departments, all employees in the company need to be sensitized.
In the course of the Innovation Forum, the basic tenor emerged that internal communication and the active involvement of employees are eminent for successful change towards an economy based on circular principles.
We also presented our solution to address the biggest hurdle perceived by companies that circular economy is not suitable for their own business model by integrating sustainability into the corporate culture through employee engagement. With on-site workshops complemented by an e-learning program, we support companies with a hybrid format to engage employees in the change.
